Adult RE: House for Hope
UUC, Blacksburg VA

Join Rev. Pam Philips for this opportunity to dig deeper into our liberal religious roots by discussing and reflecting on a book written by two prominent UU ministers and theologians—John Buehrens and Rebecca Parker. A House for Hope: The Promise of Progressive Religion for the Twenty-first Century lays out the theological house that religious liberalism has inherited and suggests how this heritage will need to be spiritually and theologically transformed. Ideally, participants attend each class, but drop-ins are welcome for those who have read the appropriate chapters. Class will be held on March 15, 22, 29; April 5, 19, 26; and May 3. See weekly emails for chapters under discussion. Register online.

Environmental Justice Film Series: Water & Power: A California Heist
UUC, Blacksburg VA

In California’s convoluted water system, water barons find ways to structure a state-engineered system to their own advantage. This examination shows how small farmers and everyday citizens are facing the drought and a new, debilitating water crisis. A discussion will follow the movie facilitated by Environmental Engineer, Amy Pruden-Bagchi.

The Environmental Justice Film Series, showcasing the movies of the 2017 Sundance New Climate Program, continues this month. The community is welcome for these free showings and discussions following the films. The series is co-sponsored by Lifespan Faith Development and the Social Justice Team.
