Casey Akers is a member of the Appalachian community 30 minutes south of Blacksburg in Riner. They have a Master’s in Divinity and a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies, and are currently in the candidacy process. They are proud to be a substitute teacher for Montgomery County. They thank you for the opportunity to speak so openly to our shared community and hope that their words bring inspiration for further conversation as we fight for a better tomorrow.
