Building Dedication Litany

Left side

Right side

This building is not just wood and metal, drywall and glass paint and carpet.

It is more; it is much more

It is not just shingles and siding and bricks and cement

There is something else that makes this building unique, even sacred.

This building is also made of dreams and hopes, laughter and fears.

It is a product of our courageous past and our blazing vision for the future of our free faith.

This building is a resting place for our spirits when we are weary from the busyness of the world.

It is a place of growth and challenge where we are free to doubt and question the too easy answers that we sometimes settle for

It is a place of love and safety where hearts and minds can connect despite differences.

It is a place of truth and the courage that is sometimes needed to speak the truth.

This building is a place of beauty, of music, art, poetry and dance

It is a place of learning, exploration and challenge.

Today we dedicate this building as the home of our congregation. May all who come through these doors find a home for their spirits and their restless minds

This building is not just wood and metal. It is much more than a physical entity

This building is a sacred place because it offers us the space to create something holy: a beloved community for people of all ages, all religions, all backgrounds.

Both sides: It is our congregation’s home. It is the home we love and long to share with other seekers and dreamers. Today we are filled with joy and gratitude as we dedicate our new home to our use and to the needs of the wider world.
